History

1970

Founded “Suiken Consultant Company” in Osaka city.

1973

Company name changed to “Suiken Co., Ltd”.
Developed the wedge-type retainer glands for tyton joints of pipes.

1976

Developed the wedge-type retainer glands for mechanical joints of pipes Mecha-holders.

1980

Developed the ductile cast iron flexible expansion joint SUPER FLEX (the initial model); the 1st ball-type flexible expansion joint in the world.

1983

Licensed the technology of wedge-type retainer glands to a Canadian company.

1984

Licensed the technology of wedge-type retainer glands to EBAA Iron, Inc./ USA.

1985

Improved the ductile cast iron flexible expansion joint SUPER FLEX to the 2nd generation model.

1987

Licensed the technology of SUPER FLEX to EBAA Iron, Inc. / USA.

1988

Relocated headquarters and factory to Takatsuki city, Osaka.
Developed the anti-corrosion T-bolt Fukugo Bolts.

1989

SUPER FLEX had no damage during the Loma Prieta earthquake in San Francisco. Its seismic isolation performance was recognized by the waterworks industry.

1991

Received the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency Director’s Encouragement Award for the development of the SUPER FLEX

1994

SUPER FLEX had no damage during the Northridge earthquake in San Francisco.
Its earthquake-resistant performance was recognized by the waterworks industry.
Started to sell Multi-diameter couplings All Fits Joint in Japan as a distributor of
Georg Fischer WAGA N.V./ The Netherlands.
Developed the special anti-corrosion cover for ductile iron pipes.

1995

The Great Hanshin-Awaji (Kobe) Earthquake occurred. More than 300 units of SUPER FLEX used in the suffered area had no leakage and proved its effectiveness.
Won the “NBK Grand Prize” at the New Business Idea Contest hosted by the Kansai New Business Council for the SUPER FLEX.

1996

Won the Invention Merit Award at the Invention Grand Prize hosted by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation for the SUPER FLEX.

1997

Won the Science and Technology Agency Director’s Award for the development of the Swinging and Telescopic Pipe Joint.
Developed the seismic isolation joint for earthquake mitigation building Menshin Bender.

1998

Constructed and relocated the new headquarters and factory to Hino town, Shiga Prefecture.
The founder, Toshiyuki Sato, was awarded the Medal with Yellow Ribbon.
Developed the ductile iron or steel fabrication flange adapter Expansion Jointer.

1999

Improved the ductile cast iron flexible expansion joint SUPER FLEX to the current model.
Developed EM under pressure valve installation system S-GATE, which made it possible to insert a resilient-seated gate valve into the existing pipe.

2003

Developed S-Bunki Valve which integrates a standard resilient-seated gate valve and tapping tees.

2005

Licensed S-GATE technology to Advanced Valve Technologies (AVT), LLC / USA. AVT is expanding its sales in North America & Europe; which is widely known as “EZ Valve”.

2006

Licensed S-GATE technology to Korean company.

2010

Taipei Water Department of Taiwan approved S-GATE system.

2012

Developed the PE ended ball-shaped swivel joint PE Bender.
Started to sell the pressure tapping system EF bunki soft.

2015

Shunichi Fujimoto appointed as President
Developed S-Bunki Valve-Menshin type which combines S-Bunki Valve with ball joint.
Developed the new model of S-GATE EX which achieved further compact and easy installation.

2016

Developed the stainless steel pipe end integrated (insulated structure) SUPER FLEX.

2017

Developed the EM under pressure butterfly valve installation system BVI, which made it possible to insert a butterfly valve disc into the existing pipe.

2018

Licensed the latest model of S-GATE EX to Shin Jin Precision Industrial Co., Ltd./Korea.

2019

Macau Water started to use S-GATE system.

2020

PUB Singapore’s National Water Agency started to use S-GATE system.
Celebrated the 50th anniversary of the company.

2021

Developed the freezing method with a pull-out resistant mechanism which makes it possible to replace old fire hydrants or air valves safely.
Yasunari Sato appointed as President and Representative Director
Developed the special tapping tees F-Bunki KB type which makes possible to remove a tapping valve after use.

2022

Introduced the new live valve insertion for polyethylene pipe KATANA VALVE.
